Religion Without Godliness

Religion Without GodlinessRomans 2:17-29In the world today, believers are quick to blame the moral and spiritual decadence on non-believers. We take the higher ground of custodians of spirituality and moral values. However, under closer scrutiny, we are likely to fall short of the claims and privileges we have asserted. We all need the gospel of Jesus. We need a transformation that is inside out. God looks beyond religion to examine the condition of the human heart. In 1 Samuel 16:7(NIV) we read “But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or height, for I have rejected him; the LORD does not see as man does. For man sees the outward appearance, but the LORD sees the heart.” But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him.”So Paul tells the Romans that a real Jew and truly circumcised was one whose heart has been transformed and who put his faith in Christ as Lord and savior. This work of transformation is effected by the Holy Spirit. V29Have you have been relying on your good works, sacraments of the church as grounds for your salvation, you need to have a rethinking because your relationship with Christ and the transformation of his Spirit and grace will guarantee your eternal destiny.
